Update your Device Drivers

The problem can occur due to damaged/outdated hard disk drives. In order to rectify this problem you can try reinstalling or updating the hard drive drivers.

Switch ON your Windows PC

Press  -Windows+X and click -Computer Management

Click – Device Manager and now open -Disk Drives

Right click the infected disk drive and select- Properties

Move to- Driver tab and jot down the driver version

Visit hard drive manufacturer’s website and check if an update is available there

Download  it and click-Update Driver

Click -Browse my computer for driver software and select the  downloaded drivers

Re-install your Hard Disk Drivers

In case no update is available, click -Uninstall Device

Now restart your machine when prompted

During the restart process, Windows installs the disk drivers automatically. Here try to carry out read/write operation on disk post reboot to see if error is fixed.

Run – Check Disk Scan

Check Disk (CHKDSK) feature scans your hard drive to check for disk errors, file system errors and bad sectors.

It constantly attempts to fix the errors and fixes the bad sectors which basically damage your hard drive.

In order to run chkdsk scan (on infected hard drive), follow the below-mentioned steps:

Open – Command Prompt as Administrator

Type the command stated and press enter – chkdsk /f /r X:
Here X is drive letter

Wait for some time so that scan gets over and then restart your machine.

Now simply copy the file or paste it. In case the error is still seen then jump to the next error fixing method

Run – SFC Scan

The System File Checker (SFC) is Microsoft Window’s feature lets you   scan and then replace the damaged/corrupt Windows system files which are harmful and result in several errors like – 0xc00000e9.

SFC scan can be run via command prompt with following steps:

Run – Command Prompt as administrator

Type  -sfc /scannow

Press –Enter and then let the scan finish

Once scan gets over the feature will  search for corrupt/ damaged system file and you may be prompted to insert – Windows Installation Disc

The feature makes use of installation disc so that it could replace damaged file  in case not able to find it in cached copy location (%WinDir%\System32\dllcache)

Reset BIOS

To know if BIOS is responsible for the error just restore BIOS settings to default.

To enter BIOS- press F2 key from your keyboard. Also, you can erase the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings.
